The new Mazda6 ushers in enhanced refinement, style, craftsmanship, and driving enjoyment. Here’s a taste of what’s on offer

Mazda’s designers are achieving a more mature and elegant look that can be seen on the new Mazda6. Changes include a new grille that now uses a mesh pattern to give a higher-quality and more sculptural three-dimensional appearance. The grille is deeper, and its new design accentuates the wide stance of the car and its low centre of gravity. The headlights are sleeker and wider, and along their upper edges flow new LED turn signals.

The rear section of the trunk lid has also been redesigned. There are new 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels available, and paintwork now extends lower on the body, highlighting the contours of the Kodo design. A striking new shade of red—Soul Red Crystal—has been added to the color palette. Some of the beauty is hidden: modifications to the underbody improve aerodynamic performance, benefiting straight-line stability and driving enjoyment.

The Mazda6 cabin has a more understated look and feel. Nothing better sums up Mazda’s commitment to craftsmanship than the new tactile Signature trim level applied to the doors, seats, and dashboard. This trim uses the finest materials, including Nappa leather, Sen wood (as used for Japanese wadaiko drums and quality furniture), and Ultrasuede, a premium new material that fuses modern tech with traditional craft, including techniques used to make kimonos, drawing on Mazda’s Japanese heritage.

The front seats have been redesigned, with thicker padding and wider seat cushions ensuring comfort and support for the natural curve of the spine, and, for the first time in a Mazda, front-seat ventilation is available. A new seven-inch reconfigurable TFT LCD instrument display is sited in front of the driver, while an Active Driving Display also projects key information onto the windshield, in the driver’s line of sight.

The new Mazda6 benefits from significant upgrades in handling, performance, comfort, and steering feel. The Skyactiv-G 2.5 direct-injection engine has been reengineered to be more responsive, more powerful, more economical, and even smoother. Automatic cylinder deactivation cuts out two of the four cylinders on light loads, improving fuel economy. New inlet ports and pistons improve torque, and higher-pressure fuel injection improves performance and economy. For even better performance, a turbocharged engine is available.

Power is boosted to 250hp and torque jumps to 310lb-ft. Power, of course, is nothing without control. The new Mazda6 has revised suspension that offers greater agility and ride comfort. The steering is also more precise, and body rigidity has been enhanced, improving handling, quietness, and ride quality. As a premium vehicle, the new Mazda6 offers higher equipment levels to enhance your driving experience. These include a wiper de-icer function and front and rear courtesy lights. New safety features include a 360-degree View Monitor and Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
