Inside the vehicles, red features prominently, appearing on the seats, carpets, and mats, while a special 100th Anniversary logo is used on the headrests and keyfob.

GAME ON WITH MAZDA RX-VISION

One of Mazda’s most exciting concept cars—the RX-Vision—is now available to drive. Sadly, it’s only in the virtual world, but the vehicle, developed exclusively for Gran Turismo Sport on PlayStation®4, still conveys the joy of driving that Mazda engineers into its real-world cars.

The RX-Vision GT3 has received a few enhancements over the original concept car, adopting a more aggressive appearance; there’s an increase in both the front and rear track width and the width of the fenders. But the most exciting news for Mazda fans is the introduction of the next-generation rotary engine. To meet the required engine output for its class, the RX-Vision GT3 mounts a four-rotor Skyactiv-R engine in the lightweight chassis.

The RidgeRunner Miata Club was formed in 2001 for the purpose of bringing together Miata owners and enthusiasts in and around Western North Carolina. Countless Miata-worthy roads weave through the delightful Blue Ridge Mountains that make up our backyard. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the famous “Tail of the Dragon,” and many lesser-known routes make great day trips for our club.

We endeavor to keep the business end of our club to a minimum: just enough to organize the club and provide gatherings for socializing and driving our Miatas together. Most of our club events are open to guests. So, if you’re a Miata enthusiast living in the area, or just passing through, we invite you to join us!

Imsa CONFIRMS RETURN TO ACTION

IMSA has confirmed plans for its race series to return to action following the enforced absence caused by the coronavirus. A revised calendar for 2020 has been published, with the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship having resumed on July 4 with a sweeping victory for Mazda at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

Harry Tincknell and Jonathan Bomarito, in Mazda No. 55, took first place in the 95-lap race by 10 seconds ahead of the No. 77 Mazda of Oliver Jarvis and Tristan Nunez. That order was reversed on July 17, when Nunez and Jarvis took fourth place and Tincknell and Bomarito fifth at Sebring International Raceway in Florida.

The IMSA series continues in Virginia, Laguna Seca, Wisconsin, Ohio, Watkins Glen, Atlanta and Lime Rock Park, and is scheduled to conclude with the 12 Hours of Sebring in November.

“IMSA is grateful to all of our promoter partners for collaborating with us to develop a revised schedule of outstanding events,” said IMSA President John Doonan.

“Our priority since March has been to get back to racing as safely and as quickly as possible, and this revised schedule is evidence of that. We appreciate the patience, cooperation, and input of our IMSA stakeholders, and we all are very much looking forward to going racing again.”

Mazda had already made an excellent start to the season with Oliver Jarvis, Tristan Nunez, and Olivier Pla claiming second place in the Daytona 24 Hours in January in the RT24-P prototype.
